*yawn* Tiring Family Fun

Vancouver
Okay, so let's see... it's been a busy week, but i should recap for prosperities sake, because it was fun.

On Wednesday, I don't know what everyone did in the morning, but I suspect it had something to do with shopping. We were going to go to the IMAX movie at Canada Place in the evening, but everyone was pretty tired, so we just hung around at the cousin's hotel until our dinner reservation.

We walked to The Macaroni Grill, which was on Davie Street. We had to walk a little ways from the hotel which was a block from Robson St. But, mmmmm, it was worth it! It was this old house converted to an Italian restraunt, with this beautiful eatting area outside, plus the inside. It took a long time to get our dinners, but who cares when they cover the tables with paper and give you crayons?! By the time our food came, my end of the table was a disaster, what with my dirty-wood graffitti and offensive drawings, Dylan's hangman games, and Uncle Kevin's rendering of a 'cat's ass'. The food was deeeeelish! Also, quite unexpectedly, the waitresses would break out into opera every once in awhile. The first time it happened, I had an uncontrollablr giggling fit which was quite inappropriate. Anyway, we were by far the most obnoxious table in the place, so it's probably good they stuck us in the corner by the bathrooms.

When we walked home, we walked along Davie Street, which was quite the experience for my three young cousins from Southern Alberta. Dylan's eyes almost fell out of his head when we went by a particular gay bar. My aunt and I wanted to go to the 25 cent peep show, just to see if you got your money's worth. Oh, also!! There was the best thing - it was an art exhibit in this gallery called "The Quintisential Gay Experience" and in the windows they had displays with naked Barbie dolls in threesomes or dominatrix scenarios. (Or both.) I want to go back to that! Davie Street has cleaned up so well though - when we were little, my Dad used to take us down there in the car to show us hookers. (Weird family bonding ritual? Why, not at all!) Now it's just gay. Although, how one area can be 'gayer' than another is beyond me, but the pink benches and bus stops don't help matters, eh?

The kids also kept freaking out over every homeless person they saw, and were quite shocked to hear that yes, I do give them money when I have it. It's a CITY, people! You're not in Medicine Hat anymore. :P)

When we got back to the hotel, we had to split into two groups to take the elevators up, because we couldn't all fit in one. I went with Jen, mom, and Auntie Patty. We got the the 25th floor and I got out - however, Jen wasn't holding the 'door open' button and as soon as i got out, the door shut on them and they went all the way back down to the ground floor, abandoning me in the hallway. I could hear them screaming and laughing incoherently. I think my aunt almost peed her pants laughing.

We came back home at about 11pm without much incident.

Today, I was SO tired, so I slept in. The cuzzies (plus aunt, uncle) got here at around 6:30pm, and we had a BBQ dinner and chilled out. At 9pm, the kids and I went to the new Starbucks to check it out and get out frappachinos. Dylan is diabetic, but he has an insulin pump now, so he can eat whatever he wants, so he loves Starbucks. (Well, he can't eat anything - he and Jen are both allergic to wheat products with is really quite limiting!)

They left ay 10pm tonight, so we probably won't see them for another year ot two! Well, Jodi will be staying with us for a week in August, because Jen got to last year, so that will be fun. She's a frickin' riot, that one.

Okay, sorry to bore you all!

Tomorrow I hope will be VERY quiet, as I am VERY exhausted! I don't think anyone (besides my mom) understands how tired these types of weeks make me!

[info]quippymcflippy - I know you were going too come over, but seriously, I don't think I'm up for anything. I'll probably sleep all day. I'll email you too, in case you don't see this in time.

Wow, it's a good thing that elevator didn't close on your head. :P

Davie Street sounds kinda fun. LMBO at your dad taking you to look at hookers.

LOL, well, another elevator did close on me at one point in the week, but I can't remember when that happened. It's become kind of a blur!

Davie IS fun - they have some really cool stores there now, now that the hookers are gone! ;)
